Who are we?
We are Patchwork Mind, a community mental health and disability support and advocacy organisation based in Chennai, India.
Patchwork Mind is run by Subashri Sankar, a Psychotherapist and Creative Arts Practitioner, with extensive professional experience of working with people with disabilities. She has a Masters in Art Therapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University, Australia, over 100 hours of professional training in Play therapy and a certification in Trauma Informed Practice from the Australian Childhood Foundation.
Her experience includes working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder), Down Syndrome, Learning disabilities, sensory processing disorders, Dyspraxia, etc.
She has also worked at adult in-patient psychiatric facilities, supporting adults with complex mental health conditions. Subashri worked with them to support rehabilitation and safe transition into the community.
She hopes to make places like schools, healthcare facilities and public spaces more neurodivergence-friendly and accessible to people with mental and physical disabilities. She also cares deeply about using art and creativity to make the world a kinder and more supportive space.
